On 9 and 10 April 2025, NHL Stenden welcomed a delegation from the Danish city Vejle, consisting of representatives of the municipality and various educational institutions. The two -day working visit was dominated by knowledge exchange around campus development, student involvement and urban innovation.
During the program, the delegation received an insight into how NHL Stenden - in collaboration with partners such as the municipality of Leeuwarden, Leeuwarden Student City, Identity Matching Academy and Nordic Campus - is working on a lively campus with a strong regional connection. Topics such as Design Based Education (DBE), Broad Welfare, placemaking and Student Participation were discussed extensively.
One of the highlights was playing The Place Game , an interactive work session in which participants together analyze a physical place and formulate improvement ideas. This approach fitted in well with Vejle to involve students and residents more in the design of their city.
The collaboration between NHL Stenden and Vejle marks a nice step towards further internationalization and setting up joint experiments. This includes student exchange, placemakingprojects and strengthening 'Sense of Community' on both campuses.
