INTERESTED IN JOINING ANASSOCIATION?
Aside from the beautiful surroundings of our NHL Stenden campus, we offer many different activities for students to participate in. You can gain invaluable experience by joining an association’s committee or participating in their activities. Each student association is unique. Are you looking for a traditional Dutch association or something completely different? Would you consider yourself creative, well-spoken, or a sports enthusiast? There’s an association for everyone on our campus, but you have to choose the one that’s right for you.
STURA ITM
StuRa ITM is the student association that represents all International Tourism Management students of NHL Stenden University. The organization consists of five departments; the board, improvement & development, events, workshops, and marketing.
It is their goal to make student life easier and to solve problems together. It is most important for Stura association to create unforgettable moments for students!
STURA LEM
StuRa LEM, the student council for the leisure program at NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden. During the school year different formal and informal events are organized by StuRa LEM in order to create a pleasant atmosphere within the course. Another aim is of the StuRa is to improve the course by providing teachers and management with feedback and by helping and listening to students.
IBCO
International Business Committee, also known as IB Committee, or IBCO, is a student-led non-profit student association run by the students of the first, second, and third year of the International Business Bachelor degree program. IBCO has four main departments: Events, Finance, Promotion & Social Media, and Student Advisory Council. Members of the International Business Committee are very enthusiastic and passionate about their activities and involvement in organizing events, advising the school, and developing their personal skills to tackle all challenges.
ISA
The International Student Association is an association that represents both international and national students and guides them through the inner and outer experience of Stenden & Leeuwarden. International students have the opportunity to interact and meet other students. Students from abroad represent their countries and cultures and assist in developing new ideas or activities for various events. There is a lot to look forward to, and it will definitely be a fun and exciting experience.
STUCO CB
StuCo CB is the student association of the Creative Business program at NHL Stenden University. StuCo CB helps CB students who are encountering problems with their studies or facilities and serves as a communication platform for students. One of the most important aspects of this communication function is the feedback desk, which is organized by the StuCo CB towards the end of every module and provides students with the opportunity to give study-related feedback. StuCo CB also organizes different types of events on a regular basis.
UFWH
Universities Fighting World Hunger is a network that combines a multi-disciplinary academic action agenda with grassroots activities that has spread to nearly 300 campuses worldwide.
The network strives to solve hunger through a whole-of-university and multi-disciplinary approach through teaching, research, outreach, and student engagement. The result is a near-limitless capacity to create and disseminate new strategies, programs, and processes to achieve a zero-hunger world
DIONYSUS
The Dionysus Student Association is passionate about wine. During the academic year, an association invites speakers from the industry. Most speakers have experience in restaurants, wine import, or other wine-related professions. Apart from tastings, they also organize several activities and parties throughout the year. From the annual gala to our famous themed parties to the Ladies and Gentlemen events, there’s something for everyone.
STUCO HMS
The Student Council or StuCo HMS works directly under the Academy of Hotel Management. They can help you with any feedback you may have during your time at Stenden HMS, but you can also contact them if you have an idea that could make the school better.
HOUSE BACCHUS | NL
The story starts with a group of friends who wanted to join an association but did not want to take part in discipline and other obligations. Based on their personal philosophy, they decided to form a union for all HBO and WO courses. One of the things that makes ‘Bacchus’ so special is how it feels like a group of friends. It is their primary goal to create memories together that will last a lifetime. This is achieved through theme parties, pub crawls, a gala, and weekend getaways.
IO VIVAT | NL
In 1987, just after the establishment of the Hotel School at the Christelijke Hogeschool Nederland, Io Vivat was founded by a group of ambitious students. The Io Vivat Nostrorum Sanitas association is located in the old center of Leeuwarden. Its enterprising and ambitious nature makes Io Vivat stand out. Io Vivat was previously only associated with the Hotel School. Therefore, this association now is open to students across the entire university of applied sciences.
SEPITERMUS | NL
The full name of Sempiternus is ‘The General Student Association Sempiternus Vitae Modus Noster’, which means ‘forever our way of life’. The student association was founded in 1990. In Leeuwarden, Sempiternus has a number of traditions that distinguish it from other associations. Moreover, Sempiternus is known for its great parties and for its ability to connect students from almost all universities in Leeuwarden.
OSIRIS | NL
In Leeuwarden, Osiris is the largest student association. This association was formed in 1996 when Reholitas of Bolsward, Demeter of Groningen, and Abundia of Leeuwarden merged together. Most of its members are also students at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences. Students in the association form a supportive community that experiences an unforgettable student life.
WOLWEZE | NL
Students who love fun, adventure, and freedom will love this student association. Wolwêze association was founded in 1978, and since then it has been located in Auckamastraatje. It’s open to everyone to come and have a beer (or whatever else you’d like). It is also possible to participate in fun cultural activities at any time.
Navigators | NL
Since 2005, Navigators Student Association Leeuwarden has been a household name in Leeuwarden. A Christian student association with the motto ‘Faith, Conviviality, and Hospitality’. Every member of our association has a different Christian background. Everyone is welcome here, it’s nice to be part of our association! NSLeeuwarden is known for its open atmosphere and friendliness.
