What do the Olympic Games have to do with the Nordic Campus?

Honestly, of course nothing. But… the Olympic Games are a great metaphor to explain the relationship between all things surrounding the Nordic Campus. It goes like this:

The Olympic Games are an international sporting event. Thousands of athletes participate in various sports. The philosophy behind 'the Games' is propagated by the 'Olympic Movement'. That movement includes all international sports associations, the National Olympic Committees and the organizer of the Games.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is responsible for selecting the host city and the Olympic program.

The organization of the Games is responsible for complying with the Olympic rules, which are described in the Olympic Charter. There are a number of symbols and rituals associated with the organization of the Olympic Games, including the Olympic flag and the Olympic flame. The Olympic Games therefore form a strong brand.

In our metaphor, the disciplines of NHL Stenden are 'the sports' and NHL Stenden itself is just like the IOC. Each sport (study) has its own rules and needs its own specific facilities.

The athletes had to qualify to participate in the Olympic Games.

At NHL Stenden these are the students . They have qualified to start the training.

The trainers are trained to guide the athletes to achieve their goals and get the best out of themselves.

At NHL Stenden these are of course the dedicated teachers .

The accommodations are the places where the athletes, trainers and organizations stay during the Olympic Games.

At NHL Stenden these are the student housing and of course also the housing offered for teachers and people from the general organization.

The Olympic village has sports facilities and accommodation for athletes. In addition, there is all kinds of activity. Consider catering, retail, medical facilities, transport and various companies/agencies that offer their services in line with sports.

The Nordic Campuses , Home of NHL Stenden and more…

In this metaphor, the various parties that establish themselves on the campuses together form the Olympic village. These are education-related matters, as well as student accommodation and the business community that largely wants to enter into a relationship with students/teachers.

They strengthen each other and need each other.

The host country (Olympic city) ensures that everything is well organized in accordance with the requirements and wishes of the IOC. It must always comply with the Olympic thoughts and the brand values of the Olympic Games.

In addition, every Olympic city would like to see their own place (the town, region and sometimes even the entire country) put on the map. Firstly, to create an unforgettable experience for the athletes, but also to profile themselves. An Olympic Games in Beijing feels clearly different from an Olympic Games in London.

Each location meets the basic values of NHL Stenden and the requirements set for education.

In addition, each location profiles itself individually with its individual strengths (specific studies) as well as the place where they are located. The identity of the campus therefore contains, in addition to the clear characteristics of NHL Stenden's identity, those of the environment in which it is located. To this end, we look at everything that makes this environment distinctive and characteristic. (History, landscape, buildings, companies, brands, people, culture, specific matters, etc.).
