Plan of approach
NHL Stenden and Nordic Campus, future-proof together…
The Nordic Campus approach was developed to make the campus of each NHL Stenden location future-proof. Using the Identity Matching method, a concrete development framework was developed for each campus. This development framework is designed to ensure that NHL Stenden's objectives can be achieved for its campuses. These objectives were therefore the guiding principles in formulating the development framework.
Furthermore, it has been determined that the development of the campuses will utilize the qualities of the DBE (Design-Based Education) principle. This way, not only the end result but also the way to get there will be a landmark for NHL Stenden and its campuses.
It is therefore important to clearly define DBE's practical approach to campus development. It goes without saying that Design Thinking is not approached as theory, but as a practical method.
The process therefore first involves identifying the core disciplines; these disciplines ensure quality assurance. Innovative solutions to identified problems are also found by developing crossovers with so-called related disciplines.
For the campus, it makes sense to combine expertise in spatial planning (urban development), (landscape) architecture, environmental psychology, place branding & place making with disciplines focused more on sustainability, social sciences, and educational sciences. This allows for the development of subprojects such as the Vitality Trail .
A practical formula
Nordic Campus is a campus development formula. The vision and values of NHL Stenden served as the foundation for its development. Every location where NHL Stenden offers an educational program is (continued) developed based on this formula.
These locations can/may each have a name that reflects the identity and/or vision of the place. Greenwise Campus Emmen is thus derived from the Nordic Campus formula.
In this way, NHL Stenden, through its Nordic Campus formula, develops an environment at various locations within which its educational program can function optimally, and at the same time an environment where other parties (such as other educational providers and locally integrated businesses) can offer each other added value.
The Nordic Campus formula offers the knowledge, expertise, and relationships to ensure equal quality at all locations. The campus formula guarantees both that there will be sufficient high-quality facilities and that these facilities can be developed in the most appropriate way at each location.
(Unity in diversity).
