Plan of approach
NHL Stenden and Nordic Campus, together future proof…
The Nordic Campus approach has been developed to make the campus of every NHL Stenden location 'future proof'. Using the Identity Matching method, we worked on a concrete development framework for each campus. This development framework must ensure that NHL Stenden's objectives for its campuses can be achieved. These objectives therefore guided the formulation of the development framework.
It has also been determined that the qualities of the DBE principle (Design Based Education) will be used for the development of the campuses. In this way, not only the end result but also the way to get there is a landmark for NHL Stenden and its campuses.
It is therefore important that it is stated exactly what the practical approach from DBE is for the development of the campuses. It goes without saying that Design Thinking is not approached as a theory, but as a practical method.
The process therefore first consists of naming the basic disciplines; these fields provide a quality guarantee. In addition, innovative solutions to identified problems are found by developing crossovers together with so-called related disciplines.
It is then logical for the campus to combine knowledge in the field of spatial planning (urban planning), (landscape) architecture, environmental psychology, place branding & place making with disciplines that focus more on sustainability, social sciences and educational science. Based on the main concept 'Nordic Campus', sub-projects can be set up, such as the development of the Vitality Trail .
A practical formula
Nordic Campus is a campus development formula. The vision and values of NHL Stenden have been the starting point for its development. Every location where NHL Stenden has an education program is (further) developed based on this formula.
These locations can/may each have a name that matches the identity and/or vision of the place. Greenwise Campus Emmen is thus derived from the Nordic Campus formula.
In this way, through its Nordic Campus formula, NHL Stenden always develops an environment at various locations in which its educational program can function optimally and at the same time an environment where other parties (such as other education providers and locally connected businesses) can offer each other added value.
The Nordic Campus formula offers knowledge, skills and relationships to provide equivalent quality at all locations. The campus formula used guarantees, on the one hand, that there will be sufficient high-quality facilities and, on the other hand, that these facilities can be developed in the most appropriate form at every location.
